Eating should be fun at all times. You can enjoy your food and still remain healthy simply by observing these commandments:

  • Eat in small portions and several times a day: eat a little something every two to three hours. Note that eating every two to three hours doesn’t mean eating full meals but a nutritious snack.

  • Never skip breakfast: it’s the most important meal of the day because it gets your metabolism moving.

  • Eat slowly and chew your food: especially when you are hungry. This helps your body register a sense of fullness and therefore, you know when to stop. Eating deliberately slowly also ensure that you chew your food well and helps you savor every bit. This also aids in the process of digestion.

  • Drink plenty of pure water: water is very important for a good health. Try to drink 6-8 glasses each day.

  • Eat fruits and vegetables daily: eating fruit and vegetables in their raw state is much better than cooking them. Vegetables are lower in calories, great sources of vitamins and antioxidants. Fruits eliminate toxic wastes from our body preventing and protecting against major diseases like cancer, heart diseases etc.

  • Watch the portion size: take healthier options of any food you like and keep your meals to fist size portions.

  • Practise physical activity everyday, exercise at least three times per week. Even regular walks, which anyone can do, are useful to give you the benefits of exercising.
